Mario Cresci
In aliam figuram mutare
2013

Mario Cresci approaches the last masterpiece of Michelangelo, Pietà Rondanini, which has resided for many years in Milan’s Castello Sforzesco.
Photography is light and light makes things visible, producing images at the moment in which it follows the viewer’s gaze, revealing and clarifying what normal vision can neither see nor perceive.
By creating paths of light that act as detectors of form and detail, Cresci stages an almost theatrical scene. At every shift of light the Pietà is constantly changing its structure.
A book and exhibition of the work is planned for the 2015 Expo.
